BREAST ENLARGEMENT / AUGMENTATION

You Are a Candidate if:

    You desire larger breasts.
You have smaller breasts and a very mild degree of sagging.
You have one breast that is noticeably smaller than the other.

Intended Result

    Larger and shapelier breasts.
    A more positive self image.
    Better fitting clothes.

Procedure

The procedure is usually performed using I.V. Sedation (twilight sleep) in our AAAASF certified surgical facility.
A small incision is made and an implant is inserted under the breast tissue or under the muscle.
If needed, a breast lift (Mastopexy) may be performed at the same time.

Recuperation and Healing

The patient is sent home in a surgical bra dressing. This helps to mold the breasts in the proper position.
Elbows are kept at the sides for one week.
Initial discomfort is controlled with oral medication.
Light activities can be resumed after one week, generally, with a return to full activities at six weeks.

Other Options

Since a breast augmentation does not truly lift the breast, a breast lift (Mastopexy) is often performed instead of, or in addition to, an augmentation.

Surgeon’s Note

There has been a great deal of confusion and misinformation regarding breast implants. The fact is that after more than 30 years of clinical experience and more than two million American women who have received implants, there is no medical evidence that implants are clinically related to cancer. Hundreds of thousands of women have also participated in studies which show no credible relationship between breast implants and any systemic medical illnesses.
The specific risks and the suitability of this procedure for a given individual can be determined only at the time of a consultation. All surgical procedures have some degree of risk. Minor complications that do not affect the outcome occur occasionally. Major complications are rare.
